I purchased The Raid 2 on Amazon a few years ago to watch for the first time and did not regret it at all. It was easily one of the most impressive and gruesome action movies I had ever seen, and I rewatched it many times since then.
However, after revisiting the movie just now, I've found that Amazon has forced a beyond terrible english dub on my video purchase.
The new english audio track contains immensely cheesy, dispassionate, and outlandish voice "acting", if you can call it that. After hearing just a few sentences, I can say for sure that I would prefer to have the original audio with english subtitles, just like how it was when I first bought the movie.
The worst part is that Amazon doesn't give you a choice to revert it, there is only an English dub now. I purchased this movie a couple of years ago and watch it all the time.
When I purchased it, it was in its original language with subtitles, the way a foreign language film is supposed to be. The audio seems so out of sync, the movie is unwatchable.
I want my old The Raid 2 Back!!! English dub and no option to turn it off. English dub with no option to switch it off.

The Raid 2 is one of the best sequels The film takes everything that made the original so fantastic and turns it up to Rama is still the main character and this films takes place immediately after the events of the first film.
The combat is some of the most fluid and intense that's ever graced with silver screen also, the gritty dark underworld it presents will stay with you long after the film is over.
Clocking in at over 2 hours and 30 min the film doesn't feel like it is. Good pacing and much deeper story drive the narrative.
People say that the story is convoluted and not easy to follow and to that I say It's straight forward people. You learn how far a son is willing to go to take over his fathers empire.
Only to learn I myself watch a lot of violent and brutal movies because I find them highly entertaining and even eventually became slightly desensitized to them.
But there were scenes in the film that actually made me cringe or exclaim in disbelief or shock aloud. The choreographed fights and tussles are superb and remarkable.
The actors themselves are amazing and deserve recognition for all the sweat, blood, and tears they put into this film. And as does the rest of the cast and crew.
The film itself and its shot and recorded scenes are truly breathtaking and left me highly impressed. The audio and soundtrack is phenomenal and blends well with every scene.
You feel the tension and the rush and the slow build up in every single sound and musical note played.
I strongly recommend watching The Raid 2 in its original format, with the actors speaking their native tongues. The English dubbing could have been done so much better, but I still love the film either way.
But I personally recommend the subtitled version. Overall the film is a spectacular and stunning film that you will not regret watching and that you will be able to watch over and over again.
I know I have over a dozen times actually and I've only had it for less than a month. But I love this movie and would recommend it to anyone whom enjoys a brilliant story and stupendous action.

This movie picks up for the character a very short time after the final scene of the first one.
And you really do need to have seen that in order to really get into this. Rama finds that the web of corruption he has become aware of is very big indeed, and the only chance he has of surviving is to help bring it down.
Which involves going undercover. Into prison. And befriending Uco, son of a gangster. Uco is a charming ambitious and very dangerous man.
And he's not the only one out there This like the best kind of sequel takes what people liked about the original, and tries to give you more of that.
But do it a bit differently at the same time. There's plenty of the Indonesian martial arts and action seen in the first film, but it instead involves many locales and a different kind of plot, all about gang wars and corruption.
And people trying to stay moral in a very grey world. It's a bit of a slow burn at first, because it has lots to set up and a fair bit of exposition to get in as well.
So the first two thirds of the film are more four star material than the five stars of the original. There are a lot of characters, which does mean that Rama does disappear from the action for a lot of the middle.
But you have to admire the final third, which really does take it up to a five star release. The action comes thick and fast, the stunts and fights are amazingly well choreographed, and although the ending is a bit predictable, Rama's journey to it is not something you will be able to take your eyes off.
It does have a great variety in action sequences as well. All the characters are very well cast, acted, and three dimensional, but Iko Uwais really does impress once again, with his acting ability being just as good as his martial arts one, making his character so down to earth and yet righteous and moral with it, fighting to stay that way all the time.
